Fear of Success

LetsGoBoldly-Fear-of-Success
To those who are on the path to achieve success, the game had just begun. While success brings newer hopes and avenues to an individual, it also welcomes a new opening of a Pandora ’s Box. Unknown fears, constant look out to guard what had been achieved, insecurity etc. seem to spring in from nowhere. The fear of success is as scary as fear of failure; in fact, it is way more difficult to deal with as compared to when one was just a pessimist.

1. Everyday Confidence

LetsGoBoldly-Everyday_Confidence
There are going to be bad days while conducting everyday business. This was inevitable even while starting out. As dramatic as it may sound, boosting yourself with daily pep talk actually helps. Wake up every day in the morning and ask a simple question – “What is it different that I’m going to do today?” Believe it or not, your enthusiasm and confidence casts a significant impact on your teams. Inspiration and positive thinking is contagious. Start your day with one!

Create Your Own Path to Success

“Do not follow where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Where are you Heading in Life?

LetsGoBoldly-where-are-you-heading-in-life
This was a question that I pondered about 7 years ago. After experiencing a traumatic situation (Success after Traumatic Experience) which lead me feeling completely confused about my life, I stubbled upon this question by Ralph Waldo Emerson. At the time, I knew I needed to move forward in life, but I didn’t know how.
It wasn’t until I realized that in order for me to move forward in life rather than backwards, I needed to create my own path. I needed to design my life according to my terms instead of allowing the terms of society design my life for me. (Path to Awakening)
You see, creating your path to success starts with you making the mental commitment to move forward in life, no matter what challenges come your way. In my book, The Power of Adversity- A Guide To Finding Your Greatest Gift In Life, I shared my 3-part method to overcoming adversity and designing the life you want. The last part of the method is designing your future.

What – Does It Take to be Successful in Life?

LetsGoBoldly-What_Does_It_Take_to_be_Successful_in_Life
As a learning junkie, I have soaked up a huge amount of information and wisdom from people, coaches, mentors and of course, the internet. Personal experiences, both successes and failures have reinforced valuable lessons. For instance, getting sacked whilst I was pregnant made me launch my first website in 2001! I have never regretted that path!

1. It Takes Courage to be Successful

LetsGoBoldly-it_takes_courage_to_be_successful
It is not for the faint hearted. You will be challenged, knocked down and face difficulties that you would not wish on your worst enemy. You need to have a true belief that things will always work out in the end, no matter how difficult it is in the present moment. You must have a sense that you can push on, that you do have the energy and willpower to do what you need to do. You can pick yourself up and carry on (even if you have to do it a little slower for a while).

It is the very step for moving towards success. If you are prepared, you have higher possibilities of hitting success. For instance, if you are prepared for oncoming exam, you can perform well in it. For your life, you can get started by thinking about your passion and interests. This will allow you to list down your short-term and long-term goals for your life.

Set Smart Goals

LetsGoBoldly-set_smart_goals
We live in an age where we bring a lot of our work home; it’s unavoidable. The lines have blurred between the workday and family life, with duties crisscrossing back and forth day and night. It’s the world we live in. We can probably blame it on increasing competition, never ending demands, limited resources at work, and the desire to be active in our children’s development. We can also probably thank technology for allowing us to get it all done.
One thing I have definitely brought home from work for this back-to-school period is SMART goals. Anyone in human resources or anyone who has filled out a performance review at work has heard of SMART goals.

1. SMART

At work, when we list out our goals for the period, we always strive to make them SMART

  • Specific
  • Measureable
  • Attainable
  • Realistic
  • Timely

Stop Waiting, Take The Chance And Start Living

Stop Waiting, Take The Chance And Start Living
Stop Waiting, Take The Chance And Start Living
Looking back on my younger days, I find it incredibly ironic how much of my life I spent listening to Pink Floyd, whose hit song “Time” is specifically about not sitting around and letting life pass you by.
But, like oh so many high school and college students, I wasted a lot of my time in the short- and long-term. I would sleep late on Saturdays, lose hours “hanging out” with friends and scrolling through Facebook and Tumblr endlessly.
In the long-term, I also was never sure what I wanted to do with my life, so I drifted through the easiest college courses, never really pushing myself to do better. It wasn’t until I hit around 25 that I realized I’d missed a large chunk of my life for absolutely no reason. The “good times” I’d had weren’t that great, and, in truth, I was always just passing time until something better came along.
What I realized is that nothing simply “comes along.” Life is what you make of it. If you’re unhappy with something in your life, there is nothing stopping you from making moves to change it.
My problem in college was that I’d figured I’d already sunk time and money into studying toward one degree, so switching majors in the middle of my college career would be a hassle. Well, it would have been a minor hassle then, but it’s a major hassle now that I’m in the real world without a clue of where to go from here.
If I were able to go back in time and visit my younger self, first I would smack the beer can out of his hand and tell him to read more. Then, I would tell him to, as Andy Dufresne in Shawshank Redemption says,”get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’.”

Stop Waiting, Go Out and Live Life

1. Good things don’t come to those who wait

The idea that good things come to those who wait works for children who rely on their parents for everything they desire in life. Once you have control of your own life, you need to go out and earn everything you desire and hope for in the world.
You’ll certainly need to be patient, such as when waiting for a call back after an interview, but you shouldn’t waste the time in-between just waiting for your phone to ring. In this world, you’ll reap while you sow, so you better make hay while the sun shines (ugh, two metaphors in one sentence. I apologize).

Things To Do To Change Your Life – Forever

Things To Do To Change Your Life Forever

Things To Do To Change Your Life Forever

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future”
~ John F. Kennedy
The one constant thing in our life is change. We cannot avoid it and the more we resist change the tougher our life becomes. Trust me, I know this because I was very skilled at deflecting change in my life. We are surrounded by change and it is the one thing that has the most dramatic impact on our lives. Change has the ability to catch up with you at some point in your life. There is no avoiding it because it will find you, challenge you, and force you to reconsider how you live your life.
Change can come into our lives as a result of a crisis, as a result of choice or by chance. In either situation we are all faced with having to make a choice – do we make the change or not? I believe it is always better to make changes in your life when you choose to rather than being forced to.
We however cannot avoid the unexpected events (crisis) in our lives because it is these events that challenge our complacency in life. What we can control when we are experiencing these challenging events, is how we choose to respond to them. It is our power of choice that enables us to activate positive change in our lives.
Acting on our power of choice provides us with more opportunity to change our lives for the better. The more opportunities we create to change our lives the more fulfilled and happier our lives become. Here are 10 things that you can do in your life that will change your life for the good, forever:

1. Find Meaning In Life

Spend some time trying to sort out what is important in your life and why is it important. What is it that you want to achieve in your life? What are your dreams? What makes your happy? Your meaning in life gives you purpose and sets the direction of how you want to live your life. Without meaning you will spend the rest of your life wandering through life aimlessly with no direction, focus, or purpose.

2. Create A Dream Board

When we were children we would daydream all the time. We were skilled at dreaming and visualising what we would be when we grew up. We believed that anything was possible. As we grew into adults we lost our ability to dream. Our dreams became hidden and once we started to feel like achieving our dreams was impossible.
A dream board is a great way for us to start believing in your own dreams again. Seeing our dreams every day on a dream board brings our dreams to life. Our dreams become real and we start to have believe in the possibility of achieving these dreams.

Success Tips To Achieve Your – Goals

LetsGoBoldly-success_tips_to_achieve_your_goals
Reaching success is a matter of discipline and applying yourself using a few key principles. In this article, you will discover five practices that many successful people use to reach their goals. These are timeless concepts that you can apply whether you are a student or a professional in the workforce.

1. Focus on Your Goals, Not Your Problems

LetsGoBoldly-focus_on_your_goals

Before you can start the journey to success, you need to define what success means for you. As you work through this step, remember that your definition of success may evolve over time. As a starting point, I suggest writing a five year vision for your life to cover the following areas:
  • Relationships & Family. How do you want to interact with your family? Do you want to share activities? Go on vacations together?
  • Income & Career. What kind of contribution do you want to make to the world of work? What income do you want to make? For example, if you want a $100,000 income then you will need to acquire significant skills.
  • Leisure & Recreation. Fun and enjoyment matter in a full life. Write out a list of activities and experiences you are interested in such as visiting the top 100 restaurants in the world, enjoying fine wine or learning a foreign language.
  • Contribution. How will you make the world a better place through volunteer work and related activities? For example, you may commit to donate a percentage of income to charity each year.

2. Work on Your Strengths

In order to reach your goals as fast as possible, you need to know your strengths and motivations. Fortunately, there are several great resources available to help you discover your strengths.
